Christoni Travel invites you to a beautiful day trip to the heart of Evrytania, where nature meets history and faith. A unique route through lush landscapes, gorges and traditional villages, with a destination of the famous Monastery of Panagia Prousiotissa and the picturesque Karpenisi.
Departure at 07:30 in the morning and with an intermediate stop for coffee we continue to the village of Prousos, where we will visit the historic monastery of Panagia Prousiotissa. Built on a steep rock, in a landscape of unique natural beauty, the monastery truly looks like something out of a fairy tale.
According to tradition, the monastery was founded between 829-842 AD and is associated with the miraculous icon of the Virgin Mary, which was transferred from Prousa in Bithynia. The icon is still kept in the monastery and is a point of reference for thousands of believers from all over Greece.
The Monastery of Prousiotissa has also been closely linked to the Greek Revolution of 1821, as it was a refuge for important fighters, including Georgios Karaiskakis. His personal belongings and weapons are still kept in the monastery's sacristy, while in the area we will also see the well-known "Castles of Karaiskakis".
The imposing natural landscape of the area, the steep rocks, the fir trees and the tranquility of the place create a truly special experience for every visitor.
Then we will stop for an optional lunch at a local tavern and later we will visit the beautiful Karpenisi. Free time for a walk, coffee and a tour of the picturesque capital of Evrytania, with its unique atmosphere and views of the mountains.
In the afternoon we take the return journey with an intermediate stop along the way and arrival in Larissa in the evening full of beautiful images and unique experiences.
